Two Door Cinema Club :: Tourist History
Nearly a year after its release, I’ve managed to get my hands on Two Door Cinema Club’s album Tourist History, and I find it delightful.
Two Door Cinema Club are an Indie Rock/Pop-ish/Electronic/Dance band from Northern Ireland. The music is catchy, lyrics are positive and light, the melodies are well put together, and beat is enough to shake a few booties in any room. Start to finish, the album is solid; not one song to skip over, and honestly it is difficult to pick out a favorite. I have a hard time understanding what has kept this band under the radar, because this album truly does shine.
There seems to be a huge Bloc Party influence in the band (which isn’t a bad thing), as well as a Tokyo Police Club/Phoenix-ness about it, and a touch of 80’s style, think Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Lyrics aren’t exactly deep either, with many songs on the verge of getting annoying with repetition (This is the Life). Another complaint is the length of the album, which just under 33 minutes for 10 songs leaves any listener wanting more.
Hopefully this is the start to an amazing run for Two Door Cinema Club
