Since EnterTheShell.com is all about music AND life, I thought I’d offer up our faithful readers a change of pace: life, with a dash of music!
If you’re ever in San Diego and have nothing to do on a beautiful, sunny day, you should really consider heading out to Belmont Park at Mission Beach.
There, on a slab of concrete no bigger than a regulation-size skating rink, a group called Skate This straps on their skates and puts on a show. Now, when I say “show” it isn’t really anything terribly spectacular but it certainly is worth watching.
Remember roller skates? You know, the shoes that have a couple of wheels on each side? Well, these talented skaters go from graceful to break-dancing in a matter of seconds, very reminiscent of a roller disco in the 70’s. They glide across the concrete crossing their legs and throw out moves that make it seem as though they’re walking on air. Painful looking splits and even some falls occur but because of the laid-back atmosphere, it’s not a big deal at all. The skater just gets right back up and busts a move bigger and better than anyone else’s so that you forget about his slip.
Now since this is a music blog I must inform you that though the music isn’t the most important part of these shows, the DJ’s of Skate This usually provide a pretty good mix of old school hip-hop, disco remixes, and pop music. You almost want to get out there and skate with them, even though you’re just wearing your flippy-floppies!
I’ve seen this group on several occasions and they never fail to blow me away. The backdrop of the beach, beautiful people watching in their bathing suits, groovy jams and mellow vibe make this a great atmosphere for a show. Not to mention the location of these particular Skate This performances is right next to a promenade full of shops, restaurants, carnival rides and ice cream shops so grab a cone and enjoy the summer sun with Skate This!

Interesting, I`ll quote it on my site later.
