Happy November y’all. Tis the season to reflect & be thankful for what one has. This edition of “Programming” will take on that very concept. I am very thankful to my boss “Turrtle” in letting me share my record collection with the Enter The Shell audience every month. I get the opportunity to put whatever the hell I want into my programs without question. Those of you that have hit me on the Twitter & e-mails like what I bring to the table & for that I am very thankful.
In this edition I get a bit introverted in the music selection with keeping on the theme of being “Thankful”. Though I complain about my hometown Los Angeles I have a deep love for it. I start the show with a brilliant re-edit of “Under The Bridge” by the Chili Peppers from super producer Dj Filabusta. Filabusta captures the reality of my schizophrentic city in sweet auditory fashion.
New bands & producers with a new sound is something this cat is always thankful for. From Queens NY comes Freelance Whales. This indie group with  frontman Judah Dadone bring a fresh sound like Nana’s Cranberry Sauce. The slow roasted sound of Heavy Young Heathens will have you begging for seconds.  Dj Top Cat brings the giblets with a organic take on Johnny Cash’s “Rusty Cage” by incorporating a classic by L.A.’s NWA.
Established artists still bringing the heat makes us all say thanks. The beauty of Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes with her latest effort “The Haunted Man” is in this Disc Jockey’s opinion her best to date. From track 1 – 11 this album has a dusting of Greatness !! Country legend / Thespian Dwight Yoakum’s brand new record after 9 years off “3 Pears” is freekin Grammy bound. Mr. Yoakum still has the chops & after his Australian tour you will see your pal Groman catching this man in concert with a 10 gallon & all.
I am very thankful for my Native American heritage & my grandma Joan from the Blackfoot Nation. With that I dedicate the skins go to artist Brule & his powerful track “Brave Heart” to her. I love you Grandma. Although you are not with us today I carry you in my heart every day.
I hope all of you have good Thanksgiving. I know family can be a pain in the ass but, step up & enjoy.Â
