So as you all know, I am pretty opinionated about music. I wasn’t going to watch the Grammys, but my homie Debbie Madrigal peaked my interest. So here are my thoughts:
First off, I hate music medleys! Just go up there and sing 1 God-Damn song! You know why these artists have to sing several tracks? It is because their music isn’t good enough to keep your attention for 4-5 minutes! So Justin’s brother, Lady Ga-Ga, opens the show. Her performance is OK, but then they wheel out Elton John. Now I respect the music Legends. But Elton is irrelevant in today’s music, and isn’t the Grammys a celebration of today’s music? It is because we have no more star power left, only disposable artists!
How far has Green Day Fallen? Singing with a “Broadway” cast is not my idea of Punk Rock! I know every artist needs to grow and we all get older, but that was ridiculous! Green Day has been reduced to a soft rock band at best!
Beyonce is a marginal singer at best, although she is quite pleasant to look at! Her performance was too over the top! As she sang, she sang with what I like to call false emotion. She sand a pretty shitty song, then followed it up with an even shittier cover of Alanis Morrissette. Give me a break! Why was the performance so over the top? Was it to distract the viewer from the fact that she was singing a crappy song, or the fact that she can’t sing? Who knows these things!
Then, just when I think all hope is lost, I see P!nk! All I can say is that girl can sing! That is what I’m talking about! A GREAT Performance! She didn’t try to dazzle the crowd with an over the top performance. She sang 1 song and the visual was stunning! She looked beautiful and her voice was spot on! I do have to wonder how she could walk off the stage without falling on the ground, cause my ass would have kissed the stage once I got off that rope!
Did anyone care than Bon Jovi never performed at the Grammys? I didn’t! I hate when the Grammys thinks that the viewers are retards! I hate when they have to announce “Stay Tuned for an unforgettable performance” or the brilliant “Stay Tuned for a duet by 2 legendary artists.” Stop putting these singers in uncomfortable positions, singing songs that doesn’t suit them. Stop force feeding us crap!
Then I finally had the last straw! Ryan Seacrest comes out on stage and says the absolute dumbest thing I’ve ever heard another human being say: Taylor Swift writes/tells a story better than anyone in history? What? Give me a freakin’ break you douche! I had never heard of this chick before that other retard Kanye ripped the mic from her! Although it’s not her fault Ryan said that, it still pissed me off, until I saw Stevie Nicks! Stevie is a kick ass singer/rocker, yet she is reduced to singing her signature song with some bubble-gum pop singer! What a night! I couldn’t take it anymore, so that’s when I turned the TV off and decided to do something better with my time, like count the strands on my carpet!
Hey, did anyone notice that Nicole Kidman and Rihanna were there? I didn’t see them at all in the audience. Maybe it was because the camera man kept shoving their face down my throat every 2 seconds! Come on! The highlight of my night was seeing the most beautiful singer in the world Norah Jones and Mr. Ringo Starr! I swear I get chills when I see that guy! In all, I love when bands just go on stage and sing 1 song and rock out! When they don’t have to “fool” the audience with all these distractions. You know a band plays great music when they can captivate an audience when just their lyrics!
