The reason why many of us write for Enter the Shell is because we have a passion for music. Getting free music also helps, but be careful what you wish for. I get bombarded with music on a daily basis. And sifting through it all isn’t easy. Then came the day when I received the Last Royals Ep, The Last Royals Ep, in the mail.
I put it on and didn’t expect much, boy was I wrong! The Last Royals have a perfect blend of sharp melodies with a feel-good Indie Pop sound. The Last Royals come from Brooklyn, which is home to many amazing musicians. The duo consists of Mason Ingram and Eric James, who also produced the Ep. Their Ep was released on November 16th.
The perfect Indie-Pop sound is perfect for that “Sunday Drive” on the beach that no one does anymore. But don’t let the clever hooks and the uplifting feel of their music fool you. Their songs are well written and have dark elements.
Much like The Open Feel, the duo has a rich sound for being only a duo. Their track “Crystal Vase,” is a song that should be part of your summer soundtrack. “If I Die A Lonely Death, I’m Sure It’s From The Cigarettes/I Smoked Each Day Since You Left.” The band reminds me of the Canadian/Californian band HoneyChild, who also bend the perfect combination of clever lyrics, catchy chorus’ and a Indie-Pop sound.
The band is currently touring on the East Coast. If you need a pick me up when you’re down, this Ep will be the remedy you’ve been looking for! With this crown jewel, it’s no wonder why they call themselves “The Last Royals.”
