A Wish for Fire – Sight Unseen

Alt rock quartet, A Wish for Fire’s debut EP, A Sight Unseen, is a tasty serving of melodic—and slightly melancholy—alt rock that is burly enough for the gents to dig and tender enough for the ladies to sway their hips to.

Made up of Owen Beane, Anthony Mellace, Mike “Sep” Sepavich and Dan Lewis, the boys delivery is ripe with crunch and drive that also features an airy vocal floating over it all the likes of which Anberlin, Sparta (R.I.P.) and Earshot have perfected.  A Sight Unseen is ideal for night driving or moments of solitary introspection as the combined aggression and delicate sonic make up has a highly pensive effect on the listener.

Typically, I’d list select songs as choice cuts, but the entire EP is so cohesive it’s difficult to pick one track over another.  For a debut, you can’t improve much on the band’s fantastic formula. The only downside is it’s as short as it is.  I wish it was at least 12-14 tracks deep.  C’est la vie.   I’m looking forward to their next piece, with the hopes it’ll be a full length.
