Alright, I understand that Country Music might not be for everyone. I personally don’t like it either, but I can listen to certain artists. “A Song For You” is a song which has been covered a million times. It is a song originally written by the outlaw Leon Russell. It is a great song and here is a rare performance with some legendary artists. Leon Russell, Willie Nelson & Ray Charles. Not too many people know that Ray Charles and Willie were very good friends. Willie was doing a benefit concert and these three immortal singers joined each other to sing this song. The song itself is powerful, but the video makes this version legendary. I thought I’d share it with you, because it gives me goose bumps whenever I see it! Especially since Ray Charles died very soon after this performance, and when Willie is looking at him, you could almost sense the love they had for one another, check it our for yourselves:

There are no really “bad” genres, I like to think. Just bad experiences and ignorance that make for an unfortunate combination in many people. It takes an open mind to realize that, and I’m glad I was able to see past the stereotype and stigma that was shrouding the country music genre. If not, I wouldn’t have seen just how amazing Johnny Cash was, Kenny Rogers, Brooks & Dunn, etc.. I’m not saying all Country music is great. I’m saying there’s great country music; and the same thing applies to all genres, really. All rap is not great, clearly, (:P) but there are some good artists making some great work in their genres and I think if everyone realized that they can give each individual their fair chance, everyone would benefit from it tremendously.
Joser,
I’m glad you have an open mind to music. Although I am not a fan of country, I can appreciate good artistry. One of the songs I grew up to was “Crazy” by Patsy Cline. I hope you enjoyed these legends. I also LOVE Johnny Cash, and you just gave me a good idea for the Artist of the Week. This week’s is already done, so check in next week for it! I hope you enjoyed the video!
The video was amazing, as is just about anything Ray Charles ever did.
