Don’t ask me how to pronounce the name of this week’s Free Music blog’s featured artist. While you’re at it, don’t ask me to pronounce the first track off his sophomore album either! But ask me if I approve, and I will say yes!, …and they have escaped the weight of darkness, which was released earlier this summer.
Ólafur Arnalds is an Icelandic ne0-classical artist and his track, “Þú ert sólin,” is available for you this very moment!
The track translates into “you are the sun” and when one listens to the beautiful strings and piano, a sunrise comes to mind. Picturing dew-dotted flowers in the morning is easy to do. But enough of the beautiful picture I’m painting for you! As far as the musical aspect goes, the piano eases in a slow wind instrument while the strings build up, completing the story that this instrumental needs no lyrics to tell.
